This offer is for a plant of the species Doritis pulcherrima (syn. Phal. pulcherrima.) This is a self cross of 'Mauna Kea Snow' AM/AOS (pictured). 'Mauna Kea Snow' is a champornensis or splashed florm. Colors will range from white with bright yellow splashes (almost all) to pure white with brilliant yellow side lobes on the lip (very few, perhaps 5%). This species produces numerous basal growths and makes a gorgeous specimen plant. This species is sucessive flowering with a number of flowers being open at one time. As the older (bottom) flowers drop off, the top of the spike keeps producing flowers and buds. This can stay in flower for months. As you can see, a mature plant makes for a spectacular display!!! My experience with this type of breeding is that almost all will be white with yellow splashes like the large picture. Very few if any will be white with yellow side lobes in the lip. These are about 1 year from flowering. While grouped with the genus Phalaenopsis, this species does best for me in cattleya conditions with a moderate winter rest with reduced watering. The plant you're purchasing is pictured. The plant is next to a 12 inch ruler so you can see its exact size and number of growths. This was planted out of protrays in Oct. 2009. Grow this plant warm and quite bright, almost cattleya conditions. It does better for me in the cattleya section than with my phals. Allow the media to almost dry out between waterings. Fertilize with a water soluble fertilizer twice a month. Please add $8.70 to the final price for s/h by USPS PRIORITY. We accept PayPal. Heat packs are now available at $3.00 per 60 hour pack. We recommend 1 heat pack for each 1-2 plants. This is now available in our eBay Store. Combined shipping: add $8.70 for the first plant and $6.00 per plant for the second and subsequent plant's shipping and handling. Bids must end within 3 days of each other. Please bid when the weather in your area is warm enough (45-95F daytime temperature is generally fine) for you to receive your shipment. Heat packs are now available at $3.00 per 60 hour pack. Have the plants shipped somewhere where a person can receive it so it doesn't sit outside in the weather. Shipping to a P.O. Box is also good. Remember that plants are living organisms and cannot withstand prolonged cold. The plants will be layered in shredded paper then wrapped in sheets of paper. The plants will be secured into special corrugated cardboard orchid boxes. The boxes are then closed and certifications attached. Informing your postal carrier in advance that a package of live plants is arriving and where to leave your plants is always a big help. Payments received by 12:00pm Sunday, Hawaii Standard Time generally are packed on that Sunday and shipped on Monday. Shipments to the West Coast generally arrive Wednesday to Thursday. Packages to the Middle United States generally arrive Thursdays to Fridays and those to the East Coast, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands generally arrive Friday and Saturday. Transit time during the gift and card giving seasons may take longer. |
