EO B Species Phal amboinensis yellow FRAGRANT Orchid

This bid is for a plant of the species Phal. amboinensis 'Yellow' x self.  This color form is yellow with darker cinnamon red bars.  The type specimen is white with cinammon red bars.  I find that this species likes it shady and very humid.  Well drained media is appreciated.  The amount of barring will vary.  Pictured above are a couple of plants showing some of this variation.  Below is a general description of the species from Jay Pfal's excellent website:

A small sized, hot growing, epiphytic species from Ambon Island, Sulawesi, Papua and New Guinea and Indonesia in low elevation, shady, humid forests with year round rainfall with to 4, elliptic to oblong-elliptic or oblanceolate leaves that blooms on a lateral, arching, 18" [45 cm] long, racemose or paniculate many flowered inflorescence with small bracts occuring in the late winter and early spring with longlasting flowers.

Please bid when the weather in your area is warm enough (45-95F daytime temperature is generally fine,) for you to receive your shipment.  The buyer bears this responsibility.  Have the plants shipped somewhere where a person can receive it so it doesn't sit outside in the weather.  Shipping to a P.O. Box is also good.  Remember that plants are living organisms and cannot withstand prolonged heat or cold.  60 Hour Heat packs are available. The plants will be layered in shredded paper then wrapped in sheets of paper.  The plants will be secured into special corrugated cardboard orchid boxes.  The boxes are then closed and certifications attached.  Informing your postal carrier in advance that a package of live plants is arriving and where to leave your plants is always a big help. 

Payments received by 12:00pm Sunday, Hawaii Standard Time generally are packed on that Sunday and shipped on Monday.  Shipments to the West Coast generally arrive Wednesday to Thursday.  Packages to the Middle United States generally arrive Thursdays to Fridays and those to the East Coast, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands generally arrive Friday and Saturday.  Transit time during the gift and card giving seasons may take longer.
