This is an Early 1800s Handspun and Handwoven Blue and White Check Cotton table cover probably woven in New England It has the nice beautiful soft feel of New England hand weaving, spinning and indigo dyeing. It measures 30" x 32 1/2". It has treadle machine stitched hems on opposite ends with selvage the other two sides. It probably was a (square) table cover and is folded for the photography. There is some very light aging along a center fold, and has three small tan spots the size of a pea. These early handweavings are wonderful and should be preserved. This would make a lovely addition to a fabric stack. I have owned this piece about 20 years.
