A reserve price is the minimum price the seller will accept. This price is hidden from bidders. To win, a bidder must have the highest bid and have met or exceeded the reserve price.
In early 1895 Thomas Edison introduced the first spring powered phonograph. It was aptly named The Spring Motor. In 1899 he modified the the Spring Motor mandrel with a 5" version to play concert cylinders. The Spring Motor engine was kept in the Concert and would play 6 to 8 cylinders per winding. The Edison Concert Phonograph was born. The machine made by Edison to compete with the amazing Columbia Graphophone Grand. This is an early concert as in 1900 they were restyled and resembled the Triumph. Today, a surviving early Concert is one of the rarest Edison Phonographs. The original purchase price in 1899 was $125.00. The 1899 model came in an Oak cabinet with a front drawer. This Concert came with an early Model B Reproducer. No decal was used on the cabinet. A cover enclosed the entire machine. Production of the early machine reached 3000 by May 1900. I apologize for the photos, this machine is very hard to photograph. Please contact me for more pics.
