Here is a stunning, large, early closed mouth, straight wrist, 24" size 11 Incised mark Depose Jumeau with her original marked straight wrist, 8 ball body with elongated and original dress. She has a beautiful face, huge spiral thread, almond shaped, blue paperweight eyes, applied ears, original human hair wig over cork pate, original eight ball marked Jumeau body with straight wrists, original silk dress, antique pantaloons, slips, socks, antique leather shoes with extenders at the ankles along with a marvelous antique rust color velvet bonnet with silk bows. She was made in the mid 1800's by the Jumeau Factory and her face is exquisite. She is 24" tall and marked with the incised mark Jumeau Depose 11 along with several artist checks marks. The incised mark is very light so it really doesn't show up in the pictures but you can see it when looking in person. The incised marks on the Jumeau are the early marks and they have a very different look then the later Tete Jumeau's and I think are much more beautiful. She has beautiful pale smooth, creamy bisque with no chips or cracks and her coloring is fantastic. She has huge bulge almond shaped, spiral thread blue glass paperweight eyes along with heavy painted upper and lower lashes, heavy Jumeau brows. She has wonderful applied pieced ears with no chipping and the detail to her applied ears is amazing. The sculpting and detail to her face and full lips is marvelous. She has her original cork pate over original long human hair wig that is wonderful and so hard to find these early Jumeau with original cork pates and wigs. Her wig is fabulous with long curls in back so I'm sure it has never been brush or combed. Now the bad news is she has 2 old hairlines on either side of her eyes. They are hard to see except for the flaks by the eyes. She was dirty when I got her and someone has put make up on them so I didn't see that until I cleaned her face. You could cover them but I am leaving them as you need to be aware of them. They are old hairlines as you can see from the inside of the head since it has the normal dirt and dust from being stored away for years. Again, I did clean the outside of her face and eyes so you would be able to see the old hairlines so be aware when bidding. Her original, early, straight wrist, wood jointed and composition 8 ball Jumeau body is in excellent condition and still retains the original finish. It is stamped in blue on her butt Jumeau Médaille De Or Paris. It has a wonderful elongated bottom and chunky thighs with separate balls at the shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. Her thick straight wrists are wonderful as are her hands. There is some flaking on her fingers mostly on the under side along with a little chipping of the compo but she has all her fingers. There is some normal wear and a bit of flaking here and there but not a lot and she has some discoloration on her feet I think due to her socks and shoes being on for years. She is wearing what I think is her original silk dress in great condition. It has long full lacy sleeve and silk pleats around the bottom with velvet trim. It is covered with delicate lace and has gathers at the waist and flair's out beautifully around the bottom. There is some fraying but it's hard to see with the lace over the silk but considering the dress is over 100 years old it's in great condition. Her antique slips and pantaloons are wonderful and her antique socks are super. Her antique leather shoes are excellent with extenders at the ankles with glass buttons. The holes on the extenders are torn but you can stitch them together since I don't sew or mend. Her marvelous antique velvet bonnet is stunning with lace trim and huge antique silk bows and is wonderfully full in back with long silk ties. She is one of the most stunning large, early incised Jumeau's I have ever seen and think what a fabulous addition to any French character collection she would be. This exquisite, large, early, 24" Size 11 Incised mark Jumeau Depose with original 8 ball body and original dress books for around $8, 000.00 but due to the hairlines my reserve is lots less so don't let her get away.
