Like most heavy Iron Age weapons this axe served as a dual function - for work or for war.
Lords and nobles would be called on to supply soldiers to defend their lands
and the only available source were farm workers who had access to expensive weapons or tools like this one.

It was said that he would have sold London if he could! He failed to conquer the holy city
but managed to negotiate a truce with the Muslim rulers, granting access to some of the most holy sites in Jerusalem.
He was indeed a great warrior with an army that was too small.
This weapon is 6 inches from the back to the tip, 2.5" across at the blade and 1.75" at the base.
