This auction is for an rare Vagabond travel guitar with it’s original case.

Designed as a lightweight alternative to a full size guitar, the Vagabond features a rich, balanced sound in a guitar specially designed to travel light. Developed in 1981, the Vagabond was the first “sub compact” travel guitar, providing the perfect balance of size and function. The Vagabond is renowned for fine fretwork and action, precise intonation, great sound, in an extremely portable package. The Vagabond sounds as great as it looks too. It’s handcrafted of the highest quality materials, the Vagabond was designed by musician and luthier Kevin Smith who experimented with different materials, soundhole placement, and shape to create a truly remarkable and distinct instrument that is highly respected by musicians, and collectors looking for a truly go anywhere guitar.

This guitar features solid Spruce soundboard, Mahogany neck with fully adjustable truss-rod, Rosewood fretboard and bridge, and laminated Birch body for durability. It is 33” overall and weighs only two pounds! Scale is a full 24.5” with 21 frets 15 of which are easily accessible free of the body. Because of the popularity and the fact they only make a handful every month, these little guitars have a serious backorder from Kevin Smith.

This one has done some traveling and has been played in the last decade and a half of it‘s life but has been very well taken care of. The original tag has gone by te wayside so we don‘t know the exact year it was made, but it is one of the older ones when Kevin only made a few a month. It has been factory drilled for a pickup but one was never installed. Comes with the original outstanding heavily padded gig bag.
