Early Walnut Picture Frame Superb Old Orig Finish c1850

This is an old, all-original, early American walnut picture frame dating, I would guess, to the mid 1800s.  The outside dimensions are 23 x 16 1/4 inches and it accepts a picture measuring 19 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches.  The molding is probably hand planed.  Notice that another piece of thin molding was added to the top edge to give the frame more depth.  It has a wonderful old well-alligatored varnish finish with the finish evenly distributed over the entire surface of the frame, including the sides.  The molding on the back that accepts the picture is 3/4 inches deep which is unusually deep making the frame ideal for displaying, for example, a sampler or other fabric art.  The frame is in excellent condition with tight corners and no cracks, chips or damage of any kind.  It weighs almost 4 pounds before packing.  An exceptional mid 1800s American frame with an untouched original surface for your collection.  Thanks for looking.
