This is an Andre Stein d'Augsbourg piano, which I estimate dates from the early to mid 19th c. because Andre Stein was a reknown piano maker in Vienna from the late 18th to mid 19th c. Andre and his older sister, Nannette, children of Johann Andreas Stein, the famous piano builder in Augsbourg and friend to Mozart, moved to Vienna in 1794, where they opened a shop together. In 1802, André opened his own shop.
This piano needs restoration. The wood (I think mahogany) is in good condition overall, and the veneer has a beautiful pattern. There are some chips in the veneer at places and some scratches and minor dents. The double pedestal base is cracked, and I believe the piano is just resting on it. There are two pedals that are not functional. It has strings and what I think are original ivory keys. Keys still make sound when they are hit but are badly out of tune. The plank of wood covering the keys needs to screwed back on. We are moving and looking for a good home for it, and preferably someone to restore it.
Dimensions: 34.75" (h) x 71.5" (w) x 34.75" (d)
