This is an Easton Press Collectors Edition of Moby Dick or The Whale by Herman Melville.  It has never been read but was displayed in a glass doored book case in the home of an elderly man, which renders it like new. It was published as part of the series of 100 Greatest Books Ever Written, bound in genuine leather, published by Advance Reservation exclusively for subscribers to the Easton Press.   

This wonderful classic book has all the attributes of the 'Rolls Royce' of published books, including the silk moire endleaves and gold ribbon, 22K gold edges and cover artwork, backbone hubs and archival quality paper. It is acid neutral and conforms to all guidelines established for permanency and durability by the Council of Library Resources and American National Standards Institute. The exclusive design stamped in leaf on the fine leather binding of Moby Dick was difficult to photgraph, but it is crisp pure black with 22 K gold design. Moby Dick is about Evil,and Melville wrote it when his life was one of misery. It is ironic then that  this book assured him a place amongst literary genius forever although is life was not what one could call successful and of ease.

This book is suitable for gift giving, minus the shrink wrap overlay but like new in condition.
