Very nice 2 channel USB
to
serial RS232 adapter. Powered by the USB, has a 5v utility tap, nice
industrial construction, status LEDs.
These do produce a -5V to +5V output swing on the RS-232 ports, and so
should work with any device that meets the RS-232 spec.
These are new, they have
only
been powered up only for testing.
They use a FTDI chipset,
so any
Linux system that includes the ftdi_sio.ko module should auto-magically
support these adapters. I know that Debian does, I would hope that all
other modern distros also would come with ftdi_sio.ko.
I would guess that FTDI
drivers
for that other OS (you know, the one with the "blue screen of death"
feature) will support these. We have not tested that since we don't run
that OS.
The one oddity we
noticed on the
ones we use here is that when the internal buffer is full, the RX LEDs
stop flashing, even though serial data is still being fed into the
port. This happens to us if we don't have the receiving process started
on the host computer.
Includes a new 6 foot
USB cable.

manual

These are based on the FTDI FT2232 chip.

About Offers:
Please, when using the "Make Offer" feature, be reasonable.
Offers of a half or a quarter or 1% of the asking price really
just waste
your time and ours.
On "store" or "fixed-price" listings (not auctions), even if an item
does not say
"Make Offer" we may consider offers that are close to the asking price.
FOR non-USA BUYERS:
Paypal requires that we obtain a signature from the customer at time of
delivery. If your country's postal service does not have a method to
return a signature to us, then we cannot accept paypal payments for
postal shipments.
We are not responsible for:
Customs duties,
Customs seizures,
Damage caused by customs agents.
We can not falsify any customs documents, this is a serious crime in
the USA.
Many countries limit the insurance available on postal packages. In
this case we are not responsible for any lost value above the insured
amount.
If your country has postal restrictions on valuable items or cannot
provide a signed proof-of-delivery, we can ship Fedex, but you must
provide a Fedex account number for shipping and customs charges.
A note about
ebay's DSRs, better known as "stars":
Ebay does not seem to offer any explanation of the "star" rating system
to buyers, so we'd like to say this: Leaving anything less than a five
star rating is like leaving a negative feedback, or even worse.
If a seller has any one of the four sets of stars fall below 4.3, ebay
will automatically ban them. (At least this is what ebay told us during
summer 2008.)
Since these ratings are anonymous, sellers cannot respond to bad
ratings, and in fact we are left wondering why someone left us less
than five stars:
Did we get dinged because the post office delayed a package?
Did the buyer expect some option that was not included?
Did we offer perfect service, but the buyer just figured that 4 stars
means excellent, five is reserved for miracles?
Since the star rating only covers the last 12 months, our rating can
change without receiving any new feedback as old ratings cease to
count. So again, when we see a 5.0 become a 4.9 we're left wondering if
that was really a response to a recent transaction, or just a 5 star
rating from a year ago disappearing.
So we ask our buyers: PLEASE,
if you don't think we deserve 5 stars, send us a note and tell us why.
If we can do something after the fact to earn a top rating we'll try
to. If not, at least we know why we are being down-rated.
