Egyptian Black Coral Scarab 1. Mummy scarabs, used as amulets or talismans, were sewn on or inserted in the funerary wrappings. This one has six holes presumably to sew on to the mummy. B. Size: 22 x 16 x 10 mm III. Egyptian Black Coral Scarab 1. Regarded as a symbol of the Sun and fertility, scarabs were sacred creatures in ancient Egypt.
