This auction is for a used street sweeper.  I got it from a local municipality that replaced it with a new one.  They were the original owner and it was very well maintained - check out the photos, included in the auction is a complete record of all the work done on it since it was new!

There is a tag on the sweeper that tells it was made by the Elgin company and is a Crosswinds series GE.  The serial number is: G2100D

The sweeper runs and works great.  We drove the machine home 80 miles and the engine is in excellent condition.  It did not use any oil, smoke, or make any weird noises.  The chassis is a 1993 Ford Cargo 7000 truck.  There is a plate on the door that reads:

32000 GVWR
12000 front
21000 rear
VIN: 1FDXH70P1PVA10557

The truck has only 38,605 miles and it is in good condition.  It has a six cylinder diesel engine, air brakes, automatic transmission, and a two speed rear end.  When I got it, the two speed rear end was not working properly.  I bought a new two speed drive motor ($460.00) and installed it and now it works great.  The brakes work good.  The transmission is a four speed automatic and it shifts and drives great.  The truck is very low geared for sweeping purposes.  When the rear end is in high range, top speed is 55 mph.  Top speed in low range is 35 mph.  It is low geared for more power while sweeping.  I do not know what horsepower the engine is, but it has plenty.  The engine starts immediately and just runs great.

The tires on the thing are in very good condition.  The front are like new Firestones and the back are very good General's.  They are 11R-22.5 size and are tubeless radials mounted on good heavy Dayton rims.

In the cab of the truck there are two steering wheels.  There is a switch on the dash that you use to change between them.  All the gauges work.  The radio works good, all the lights work as well.  There is a Kysor air conditioner mounted on the roof of the cab.  It all appears to function, but the freon needs to be recharged.  There is a tool in the cab that you insert into a hole on the passenger side to unlock the cab so you can tilt it.  That is how you access the engine.  It works well.  The cab is in good condition.  The only thing I noticed about the cab is that sometimes the drivers side window sticks and binds in its track and is hard to roll up or down.

In between the seats, there is a sweeper control consol that you can rotate to use from either steering wheel.  It controls all the functions of the rear engine and the sweeper.  It all works smoothly.  It shows the sweeper engine temp, oil pressure, rpm's, hourmeter, and fuel level.  There is a key on the console to start the rear engine and also to preheat it before cold weather starting.

The rear engine is a four cylinder John Deere diesel.  It looks to me to be a 4045 engine just like I have in a brush chipper.  The engine and related belts and stuff all look and operate well.  It starts and runs easily.  The console in the cab reads that it has 4629 hours on it.

The city I bought it from in the last few months had installed new sweeper brushes, several new belts and hoses, and hydraulic lines.  They maintained it well and it appears to me to be ready to use.  They removed it from service when their new one arrived.  I am not very educated about sweepers, but all the controls on this thing works, and I swept the parking lot of our local gas station and it did a great job sweeping and sucking up the dirt and trash.  You then just open the rear door and raise the bed to dump it all out.  It has a water system to spray water on the brushes.  That all worked.  I drained the tank after I tried that out a couple of months ago so it would not freeze.  There is a coil of heavy hose on the side that you unroll to fill it up with.  The tank for the water sits under the bed behind the engine.

There is a couple of spots of surface rust on a few places on the machine as you can see in the photos, but it is still a good clean unit.  The emblem is broken on the front grill but there is nothing broken or missing on the chassis that affects it in any way.  This is a very nice unit for its age.

Included in the auction is a suitcase full of maintenance records for the machine and a full set of owners and operators manuals on the truck and the machine.  There is also a handheld diagnosis computer that you can plug into the machine and it will diagnois any problems you are having.  It has two plug in disk type things.  I think one is for the truck and one is for the sweeper.  I show in one of the photos all the records and books with it.  It is really extensive.

Do not ask me to sell it early, or take less than the starting price. I will not end the auction for a local sale either. I can load it onto anything that you send to pick it up. Delivery for an additional fee is a possibility within 250 miles of Fulton, Mo, 65251. E-mail me for a quote. I have a neighbor kid that helps me on the farm that will deliver stuff sometimes. I require payment in full within one week of auctions end. Once it is paid for, there is no hurry for you to pick it up - take six months if need be! If you don't come get it after six months have passed since the end of the auction, it will be resold, and my wife gets the proceeds. If you have a legitimate reason why you need to wait longer than six months to pick up your purchase, contact me and we will work something out. If you have any questions, you can e-mail or call me at (573) 219-6611. Thanks for looking and please check out my other auctions!

I am a cattle farmer here in Mid-Missouri, so I am flexible about when you want to come and get items you have purchased from me, but I try and keep a schedule for my families benefit. I ask that you come between 9:00 in the morning and 4:00 at night. I am not available on Sundays whatsoever - that is God and family day, so don't ask! Just because I am a farmer does not mean that I am here everyday, I travel around to auctions and surplus sales and am gone several times a week. So don't do like some folks have in the past and drive 800 miles to get here and find out I am gone. You must contact me before you just show up! My granny always said that showing up unannounced was rude - you have to give people notice so they can get presentable.
