| | Album notes | Recording information: 1969 - 2005. Although Cameron Crowe's 2005 film ELIZABETHTOWN didn't fare as well critically or commercially as the writer/director's past releases (ALMOST FAMOUS, JERRY MAGUIRE), the movie's excellent soundtrack (a staple of music-geek Crowe's films) warranted enough attention to garner a second volume. Ranging from Tom Petty's uplifting pop hit "Learning to Fly" to the dreamy electronica of Ulrich Schnauss's "Passing By" to the Temptations' psychedelic-soul classic "I Can't Get Next to You," this collection is often bafflingly eclectic, but it finds its center with laid-back acoustic rock--most notably Ryan Adams's "English Girls Approximately" and "Same in Any Language" by My Morning Jacket (who appear in the film as the group Ruckus).
