1990 Fender 57 Reissue Stratocaster

Fender 57 Reissue Stratocaster guitar dated June 26, 1990, serial number V034370 with the Elton John Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy album graphic artwork. The graphic was hand painted the artist Dan Lawrence. It took 2 years and 9 months to complete. The graphic wraps around the entire body. It is so detailed that it looks like a photo.

The guitar has gold hardware. Medium maple neck profile. The pickups are gold lace sensors. The block is a Titanium block for maximum resonance. The weight is 7.2, very light weight. The guitar plays like butter and screens with tone and power. A true player deam.

When the guitar was completed, I showed the guitar to my friend John Jorgenson. At the time John was playing for Elton John with Davey Johnstone. John introduced me to Davey who loved the guitar. I offered the guitar to Davey to use for the current tour "Big Picture Tour". Davey used the guitar for several shows. The guitar was also used during the taping for a Citibank Visa commercial. In fact, it was so well received that Dan Lawrence created the Yellow Brick Road graphic on a Fender JJ Tele Signature Model Custom shop guitar. Elton was taken back by the Captain Fantastic guitar that he made the comment that he should have his piano done like the guitar. (Never happened). Elton signed the guitar as well as Bernie Taupin, Davey Johnston and Nigel Olsson. Each of them contributed to the cross on the back of the headstock to represent the signature for Dee Murray (the bass player on the Captain Fantastic album who since has passed). The only signature missing from the original Elton John band from the time is Ray Cooper. If he ever signs the guitar we should have the cross completed for Dee.

The guitar is packaged in the custom made Fender Stratocaster leather case tooled in paisley with purple poodle interior. Very western look and completes the Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy guitar.
