Lovely long hand-embroidered banner from Nepal. The silk is placed in a hoop and then, using a foot-powered treadle sewing machine, the Eight Auspicious Symbols of Tibetan Buddhism are embroidered vertically. Framed by a border of dragon silk, the top section is cardboard-backed silk. Long silky threads frame the sides, and multi-colored ones decorate the bottom edge. All together, the banner measures 30 inches long and has a small hanging loop sewn on the top. Backed with red cotton, this is a new, unused banner.
