This is a beautifully designed and meticulously hand crafted George IV sterling silver cream jug and matching sugar bowl. From the highly regarded London partnership of Thomas Wallis II & Johnathan Hayne. Thomas Wallis apprenticed to his uncle Thomas I in 1771. First listed 1778. Hayne was his apprentice in 1796. The pair were listed together from 1810 to 1826. Hayne continued alone quite successfully. So much so, that he sponsored at least six apprentices from 1822-1827 (See Grimwade). An exceptional number. Examples of their work alone and separately are found in major collections worldwide. Several at the famed Clark Art Institute.
