One of the finest Ancient Arrows from the magnificent Axel Guttmann Collection - A Near Eastern Bronze Age Arrow, dating to approximately 1200-800 BC.
The beautiful, long arrow survives with complete tang and is of leaf-shaped form, with shallow mid-rib. The elegant blade is extremely well preserved, with very little loss to the cutting edge. The patina is exquisite - a mixture of bright green (malachite), dark red (cuprite) and bright blue (azurite).
Arrows such as this were used by the Early Cultures of Babylonia, Assyria and Anatolia. The Near East was at that time one of the most advanced regions on the planet and has been referred to as the "Cradle of Civilization". This arrow would have been used by some long-forgotten soldier, perhaps belonging to one of the mighty armies of Biblical King Nebuchadnezzar, approximately three Millennia ago.
A fantastic display piece with an interesting history. This piece would make a unique gift, and constitutes a fantastic investment.
