Exotic Cape Laurel Wood Turning Spindle Blank Lathe
You are bidding on one piece of Cape Laurel . This piece measures 2 3/4" x 2 3/4" x 19 1/2". It has been partially air-dried and heavily waxed.

Common Names: Stinkwood, black stinkwood, Cape laurel, stinkhout, swartstinkhout, laurelhout.
Member of the Avocado family.
The black stinkwood, or stinkwood as it is commonly known, is a large evergreen tree suitable for large gardens and parks. Along with yellowood, its timber was much sought after to make traditional Cape furniture. This is a tall tree growing to 30m in height. The wood is from light cream, through brown to almost black. It is also finely textured and fairly heavy. It is one of the top ten widely traded plants in South Africa.
Stinkwood is one of the most highly valued furniture woods, with many beautiful pieces made. It was also used for doors, windows, wagon parts and gun stocks.

If you are buying a blank that will fit into a Flat Rate Box, noted above, I will automatically calculate that when I calculate shipping after the auctions end. There are two sizes of Flat Rate Boxes. One is 11" x 8 1/2" x 5 1/2", the other is 11 7/8" x 13 5/8" x 3 3/8". I ship flat-rate boxes for $10.35. If you have a question about Flat Rate Shipping, please contact me. The Post Office has supplied us with a new larger flat-rate box that measures 12" x 12" x 5 1/2". If your purchases will fit into that box we charge $13.95 to ship it.

Wood blanks are heavy and not inexpensive to ship. You can save a considerable amount on shipping by combining
multiple auctions into one shipment, up to the carrier's weight limit. FedEx has a maximum weight limit of 70# to a residential address.
