Rengas Tiger "Gluta sp., Melanorrhoea sp." Heartwood is deep blood red which darkens on exposure. Streaked with bands of darker color with light pink-brown to almost white sapwood creates an awesome contrast. Texture is rather fine to moderately coarse and grain is straight to irregular. Without characteristic odor or taste. Bark and wood contain a strongly irritating sap which persists until thoroughly dried, so proper protection is strongly recommended when using this wood. Even when thoroughly dried, wood may still be a skin irritant to some. Works well with hand and machine tools and dresses smoothly, takes a high polish.
