A top-of-the-line unit that was used for 6 months after being bought by my mother in mid-2008, and has since been stored in the garage. (My very ill mother is sharing a home with me now and it doesn't fit our needs.)

Manufactured by Precision Design of Canada, who have been the leader is stainless steel water distillation products for over 25 years.

Distillers create wonderfully pure water by heating tap water to over 212 degrees to kill bacteria or viruses. The water turns into steam that condenses in a coil, leaving below contaminations, which stay in more solid form. (Sodium, sulfate, nitrate, arsenic, etc.) This distilled water then passes through a carbon filter to improve the taste.

This model can distill 12 gallons per 24 hours and holds 20 gallons of pure water. It starts distilling automatically when the water level drops. This way, you don't have a wait for drinking water, and that 20 gallons in the holding tank can be used if there is a power outage.

Though there is access to the water on the unit, the most convenient way to use the distiller is to route it into the water supply line to the cold water tap in 1-3 sinks through the distiller as it sits in the garage or basement.

The finned coil, tanks, filter canister, solenoid fill valve, and unit itself all worry-free stainless steel that comes with a 15-year warranty from the manufacturer.

The bad parts: if it isn't hooked up to the pipes right it makes a thrumming sound at its location when in use, since it is boiling it has a humid zone for 10' or so all around it, and it needs 60 minutes of your time to flush it out and change the charcoal a couple times a year-- this model may need more at first, as it has not been serviced in a long time.

The good parts: this distiller produces excellent water (we had it independently tested,) this is the best of its kind and made by the premier manufacturers of stainless steel distillers, the water supply is plentiful, and this is a great deal-- these are hard to find (Precision Design sells to registered dealers only for a wholesale of $3,400) and it retails to the public for $4,800-5,200.00
