Extremely Rare Faceted CATAPLEIITE - Canada

From the sole source of cuttable rough for this rare zirconium mineral at Mont St. Hilaire, Quebec, Canada.  A rather large example and very nicely cut, there are few low relief feathers but the stone is so bright that they are not distracting.  The gem is completely colorless.  Rare and now quite difficult to source.

This gem is totally natural and untreated.  Catapleiite has a hardness of 5 - 6 on the Moh's scale and is suitable for a limited use in jewelry.
