FAB Detailed RS Vintage 50's NOVELTY PRINT Sun Dress XS

The first thing you need to know about this killer 1950s sundress is that it sparkles and twinkles like MAD! Even in low light. Unfortunately that didn't show up in the photos. But there are hundreds of water-clear prong set rhinestones liberally sprinkled throughout the fabric. The construction and serious attention to detail tell me this dress, from That Levitt Shop of Chicago, was expensive in its day.

Utterly fabulous novelty print pleated sarong bodice sundress, with amazing construction details. The fabric is horizontally welted throughout, meaning that it's constructed of *many* panels perfectly hand-stitched together on the reverse side and the print perfectly matching on the right side. This kind of workmanship and the labor involved in creating it boggles my mind!

Sexy spaghetti straps hold up the bombshell intricately pleated bodice that's boned on one side, metal zipper on the other. The waist was also welted by hand. Very full skirt, with a 108-inch sweep! Made of cotton with a fabulous novelty print of mysteriously faceless women with baskets, obviously in a garden, surrounded by leaves. The colors are navy blue, off white, with accents of black. This is the most amazing 1950s sun dress I've seen in decades of collecting and selling. If it's your size, I recommend you don't wait very long deciding, because once it's gone, it's gone and you're very unlikely to ever see another like it. I love that it's dressy and yet casual at the same time. You can wear it for day, and also be dazzling at a cocktail party.
