FABULOUS Hand-Finished Black Wool
Vintage 1960's Fitted Military PRINCESS Coat S/M

38 bust * 34 waist * 40 hips * 15 shoulder to shoulder
22 sleeves * mid-40.5 shoulder to hem


I am quite literally smitten with this coat! In addition to having a fabulous, figure flattering princess cut, and the many large mirror-bright gold brass buttons, it is also beautifully made, with hand-detailing. It kills me that the designer's label is gone. I know it has to have been someone good. Perhaps Originala. Someone of that calibre.

The lines are beautiful, sculptural, really with the princess seaming front and back, which give it its elegant fit and shape. Smart large collar, with large dressmaker snaps that fasten under the left side of the collar, across on the interior, and one more at waist level on the interior. Those large gold mirror-finish buttons really make it pop and take it from quietly elegant into a head-turning piece. The bound buttonholes were hand-sewn, and the gleaming black satin lining set in by hand. There are two invisible inseam pockets on either side, lined in satin. It's made from a soft high quality wool twill in jet black. I only wish this one fit me, and I lived somewhere cold enough to wear it! It would cost a very pretty penny to get a coat of this quality in a modern piece. Lucky the woman who gets this one; it'll stay as part of your wardrobe for a lifetime. Classic, yet so very stylish.





You or a girlfriend could put your lipstick on in the reflection of these buttons! Oh, looky, there's my camera and finger :-)

What a shame the only remaining labels are this dry cleaning label, and the American Union tag.

Condition: Excellent. A few of the buttons have some minor scratches, which you can see in the close-up above of the button.
