Fast Action Control Techniques – The System
"There is nothing more important to a street cop than a skilled pair of hands"
What
makes the FACT System unique is that it actually identifies the most
common physical methods subjects use to resist arrest, escape or attack
police. Seizing an arm or wrist in a real world arrest is much
different than the way we are taught joint locks in the training
hall. FACT was designed after my involvement in hundreds of street
confrontations and arrests.
Making
an arrest or breaking up fist fights is a very difficult and dangerous
task. Trying to arrest much larger people who are fully committed to
escaping is a lot like being a professional kidnapper. Most people who
resist arrest actually look like a person on fire or like someone who
just stepped on a bees nest. Subjects flail wildly,
pulling away from the arresting Officer, or attack Officers with
extreme ferocity using both hands and full body leverage. Reality T.V.
shows such as COPS illustrates these dynamics well.
No
technique will work every time. Police need street tested practical
applications with high rates of success and low risk of failure. Police
of all ages need tactics that do not require a lot of training time,
great strength, or skill. Tactics must be applied instantly, in close
quarters, against violent, drunk, drugged and deranged subjects in any
environment.
The
FACT system is used primarily by Police, Corrections and
Security Professionals. Many Defensive Tactics and Martial Arts
Instructors from around the world now use the FACT System as a video
guide for their law enforcement students. Many of these techniques are
designed for Officers that are without the aid of back up. Please note:
The Finger Drag Frisk is a two man removal technique, and the Pull Away
Wrist Lock is a Two Man Restraint Technique into a chair or against a
wall. Officers can move subjects from the chair or wall
into front wrist locks and into the Finger Drag Escort position again.
All the tactics you are about to watch are the actual street tested
methods I still use everyday.
