Lets Get Back to Basics For Beginners and Advanced Quilters alike This design is "SIMPLY" perfect for the hand quilter! Women have been quilting for generations. Quilting has been a very loved and cherished pastime. They used to quilt with simple boards clamped to ladder back chairs and thier quilts were made with love and care...sometimes it would take weeks or even months to make a cherished heirloom. Now the quilting frames cost hundreds of dollars, and have numerous rollers, cogs, and gears. Are we losing a way of quilting?..For generations simple, sturdy quilting frames and the women that used them produced some of the most beautiful and treasured quilts of history! Here is a simple, sturdy, easy design in a quilting frame. I designed this quilt frame for me...Because the frame ends (the fan shaped pieces ) are exactly the same..they are interchangable...that means no complicated set up..no right or left..no front or back...just simply one at one end and one at the other...no nuts and bolts..no tools...just put the feet on..(they slip right on snugly) and insert the rails... if company is coming...you just roll all the rails together, tie all with a scrap of material, remove the feet and put it all away for a while...when your ready to quilt again...pull it out and set it up in a minute...off you go again!! This frame comes WITHOUT the rails to save you on shipping costs. The quilt rails are the long wooden 1"x2"x (the length of your choice depending on the size quilts you want to make) that you roll the quilt onto. Quilt leaders are pieces old scrap material that are about 6 inches wide and the length of the rails...I tack the quilt leaders to the rails with quilting tacks and leave the leaders on permanantly...then pin and un-pin the quilts to the leaders. This way your quilt is out into the quilting area and you don't have any tack holes in your quilt.

For Baby quilts 45"x 60"....you would buy (3) 1"x2"x6'
For Twin Quilts 65"x 85"....you would buy (3) 1"x2"x8'
For Queen Quilts 86"x86"....you would buy (3) 1"x2"x8'
For King Quilts 96"x 96"....you would buy(3) 1"x2"x10'
or just purchase (3) 1"x2"x8" for everything up to and including Queen size quilts

This design also is at the perfect height to minimize strain on your back, neck and shoulders. The quilting field is 21 inches deep(with 96 in. rails that's 2000 square inches to quilt) and sets at 31 inches high. With the option to adjust the position of the rails, the quilt has the perfect tension, and stays tight with no drooping, making the perfect quilting field. Simple and easy. The height of the fan frame is 39 inches, width is 22 inches, and is 3/4 inch thick. This is made of heavy duty sanded 3/4 inch finish plywood and comes unfinished. This is a sturdy and stable frame (and pretty enough to paint OR stain!) with no wobbling . This is built to last for years and years. It has been sanded and you may choose to leave as is or paint and decorate as you wish. I have included pictures of my personal frame which I painted and decorated. With the 3 rails you do NOT need to baste your quilts. Simply tack your quilt or quilt leaders to the rails, roll the quilt onto the rails (in a scroll fashion), insert the rails into the frame, and your ready to quilt. It only takes seconds to reposition your quilt by turning the rails and this can be done simply and easily! This frame also has no gears to break or wear out.
