First Day Cover of the 3-cent stamp issued by the U.S. in 1948 to mark the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Rough Riders, the unit led by Theodore Roosevelt during the Spanish-American War. The statue, showing Capt. William O. ("Bucky" O'Neill, was carved by sculptor Solon H. Borglum.
