FF5049 Victorian JH BELTER Carved Rosewood Sofa



Description

We are pleased to be offering this Outstanding Laminated Carved Rosewood  Sofa attributed to J.H.Belter  today.  Dating from 1860 to 1870, this piece features an unbelievable triple-arched pierce carved crest.  Note the unbelievable detailed carvings on this piece; this sofa is every bit as gorgeous in person as it is in the photos!  There are multitudes of scrolling leaf tips, a bouquet of carved calla lilies in the center crest, and fruit & floral accent garlands throughout!  The sofa is raised on carved cabriole legs that flow directly into the molded serpentine carved skirt, terminating in the center with a beautifully carved scrolled cartouche.  The brass casters are replaced and are present on the front legs.  The sofa has been professionally and beautifully restored, showing a lustrous rich color with pronounced wood grains.  The upholstery was replaced recently, and is a stunning blue/green silk damask that remains in wonderful condition, and done in a button-tufted back with an overstuffed seat!  It looks fantastic against the pierce carved and molded Belter sofa frame.  There were some pervious repairs to the back legs, but the overall condition is very good!  This sofa measures approximately 82 inches at the widest point, 69 inches at the arms, 54 inches tall to the top of the center crest, 18 inches to the seat, 39 inches at the deepest point, and 24 inches deep in the seat.  We are pleased to be offering this fantastic, seven-lamination deep, triple-arched Belter sofa to you today.  Please let us know if you have any questions at all, and we will be happy to help!
