Sergei Laushkin is one of the most unique and popular figures in the world of contemporary art in Ekaterinburg, Russia. His fresh style takes the ordinary world – objects and landscapes – and forces the viewer to recognize or feel the emotion and attitude often overlooked. Even the array of objects that fill his still life works seemingly converse in silent whispers telling the story of the moment and all it contains. Sergei’s creations are full of life and emotion, created in a simple, straight-forward fashion. His positive attitude towards life is expressed in every painting. Sergei has an incredible gift of finding new and exiting details in everyday life and expressing it in a way that gives his audience a sense of joy, wholeness and clarity.
Sergei was born in 1953 in the small village of Preobrazhenka in the Southern Ural Mountains. In 1973 he graduated from the Cheboksari College of Art. His professional career as an artist began with a personal exhibition in Ekaterinburg in 1994. Since that time he has participated in group shows or personal exhibitions in major Russian urban centers including Ekaterinburg, and St. Petersburg as well as Europe and the United States. His works are featured in art museums in Ekaterinburg, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Fiorentino, Italy, and privately all over the world, including the art collection of the Royal family of Jordan.
