This is a superb c.1920 Art Deco French spelter bronze figurine of a woman in Grecian or Roman robes entitled 'The Sword Dancer'. My bronze figurines come from a variety of sources including part clearance collections, quality antique fairs and small private sales which uncover pieces from the 18th,19th, 20th centuries and later periods, and include a variety of bronzes such as animalier, Art Nouveau, Art Deco. This is a very fine spelter figurine indeed and a wonderful subject matter with exquisite detail. The facial detail is particularly beautiful and the figurine beautifully posed. The woman is barebreasted. She carries a sword behind her back. She has flowing hair and a decorated headband in typical Art Deco fashion. There is some age wear to the spelter but this figurine is in excellent and age commensurate condition. Impressed no's to base. Stands some 8.5" height. A superb, rare and a very collectable spelter figurine of 'The Sword Dancer' which will make a fine decorative display.
