A very fine older authentic Northwest Coast Salish hand carved and painted alder wood raven form rattle circa 1970's. The rattle is the work of master carver Gary Rice (b1939-)a member of the Coast Salish Nation who also works in the Kwakiutl traditional forms. This fine example of his work is a Raven rattle featuring deep well carved incised designs of wings on the back and a hawk face on the bottom. The rattle is signed by the artist on the handle and is in excellent condition, with normal patina from age and handling. The rattle makes a great sound when shaken. This great rattle will make an excellent display item and a fine addition to anyone's collection. Being sold without reserve so have fun bidding.
