REMARKS ARTIST: Cicely Mary Barker was born in 1895 in Croydon Surrey England. As a child she suffered from epilepsy and was educated at home. She overcame her ill health and was to become a very famous children's artist, who recruited local youngsters as her 'models'.
This charming historical print, shows an ethereal sprite wearing a pair of butterfly-like wings and dressed in a costume appropriate to the flower they represent. Some of this series also feature pixies, elves and similar delightful fantasy characters, so beloved by young children, and, dare I say it, by adults too !
