Unique history. Discovered in 1765 in Georgia and named after Ben Franklin (Latin name - Franklinia Alatamaha). This tree is no longer found growing in the wild. Unique, in that it Flowers in Autumn until the first frost. It flowers even as it is changing to its purplish Autumn foliage. Its rumoured that cotton was the cause of its demise so growing in an area that you beleive may have grown cotton isnt recommended. Growing to a height of about 15-20 feet tall and about 10-15 feet wide and recommended planting zones are 5-8. These plants are 18" tall.

  • Flowers: Fragrant White from mid Summer to Late Autumn
  • Fall color: Orange/red purple
  • Light requirements: Some shade to full sun
  • Extinct in the wild, requires good drainage.
