We are honored to offer this wonderful C 1890-1900 Joan of Arc transfer ware plate.

Joan of Arc was born January 6th, 1412 and was only 19 years old when she was burned at the stake in 1431. She was lead by Angel voices and brought forth her first army at the young age of 16. In her first letter to the English in March 22, 1429 she wrote, “ I am sent here by God the King of Heaven.” She was canonized as a Saint on May 16th, 1920.

There is a DISTINCTIVE Rose Colored Scroll designed rim with a raised surface framing the subject in an unparalleled elegance.

Jeanne is depicted in the battle of Patay in Beauce astride her horse. The caption in French, reads, “Jeanne D’Arc taille en pieces l'armee Anglaise a la bataille de Patay en Beauce." No 8.

The Soft White ground accented with Black is superb. The details are unprecedented!

Please note the French mark in our photo. “Porcelaine Opaque De GIEN”, with a Crown and Chateau logo.

There is an incised “M”.

It has great shelf presence; please see photos for condition, the expected wear for the age, note hairline on upper right.
