Buffalo Bill Cody

(1846 – 1917)

Buffalo Bill was chief of scouts for the 5th cavalry and killed Cheyenne Chief Yellow Hand (1876).

 

·        At age 14, Buffalo Bill worked as a teamster and Pony Express rider.

·        When he scouted the Santa Fe Trail for the 7th Kansas Volunteers, Buffalo Bill met Kit Carson.

·        Between 1867-1868, Buffalo Bill was a buffalo hunter for the Kansas-Pacific Railroad; he killed 4,280 buffalo in 18 months.
