DESCRIPTION
Antique Wedgwood Majolica Jug / Stein with a Silver Lid. The lid is a bright silver on the inside, and it looks like it has a pewter finish on the outside, also the metal trim on the top edge. The jug has the fabulous majolica colors -- blues, yellow and trimmed with a brown color along the edge of the base. The interior is a blue / aqua color. The exterior is decorated with lovely deep blue flowers. There are two bands of yellow / gold color with the deep blue flowers dotting the bands. To highlight the jug, the handle is a different shade of blue. The top edge of the jug is trimmed with silver -- attached to the lid. The inside of the silver lid is marked, "James Dixon & Sons, Sheffield." The last letters of Sheffield are worn. There are also symbols and letters scratched into the lip of the inside part of the lid. The metal piece that opens the lid is hinged, so that the 1 1/2 inch piece that is attached to the lid can be moved up or down, as shown in the photos. The bottom of the jug is marked with impressed marks: "Wedgwood, 80, D, M, FFG -- in blue: M 152.4."
SIZE: 6 1/2 inches high x 4 3/4 inches wide at the handle.
