A brief history of Art Nouveau style
At its height one hundred years ago, Art Nouveau was a movement and style of decoration characterized by organic forms, sinuous curves, flowing lines and asymmetry. Flourishing from 1890 to 1914, the style's patterns and motifs were taken primarily from nature. Favorite subjects of Art Nouveau artists, including Alphonse Mucha & William Morris, were sensuous women with flowing gowns and hair, fairies and nymphs, dragonflies, peacocks, and abstracted, intertwined botanical motifs.
