Antique French Silver and 10 Ct Gold Pencil

Circa 1900 * Hallmarked

This lovely silver porte-crayon pencil has an all over embossed pattern of diagonal scrolling and flowing drapery. It's very much in the classical French style. A gold ring on the barrel slides down to push out the wooden pencil for use. The body is solid silver and is hallmarked with the Parisian boar's head mark that was used on French 800 silver beginning in 1838. The sliding ring, trim at the opening end and jump ring on top all test solid 10 caret gold.

The condition is excellent with no dents, damage or repairs. The pencil screws into the threaded holder and looks to be original. It has a nice, original patina and the ring at the top was to attach it to a chatelaine or watch chain. It measures 3" long closed (not counting the ring).
