The Item for sale is for one (1) copy of the comic book Fantastic Four No. 96 "The Mad Thinker and His Androids of Death!"
The Fantastic Four is a fictional superhero team appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. The group debuted in The Fantastic Four #1 (Nov. 1961), which helped to usher in a new naturalism in the medium. It was the first superhero team created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist and co-plotter Jack Kirby, and a cornerstone of Marvel Comics' 1960s rise from a small division of a publishing company to a pop-culture conglomerate.
Reed Richards, a brilliant scientist, took his crew on an unregistered space ship launch to become the first to do interstellar travel. An accident occurred, and the crew was bathed in cosmic rays and was forced to return to earth. When they got back to earth, the realized that through the cosmic rays, they were changed on the most basic molecular level. They each had super powers, some with great abilities and little change to their physical appearance, but in the case of The Thing, the side effects were very noticeable and monstrous.
The four had a choice, to hide their powers and shy away from society, or to embrace their newfound abilities and use them to help the very people that might consider them freaks. Reed, Sue, Johnny, and Ben all decided to face their fears and as The Fantastic Four, they have become more powerful than they would be as individuals and their bonds have made them a family of sorts, ready to take on any challenge. Now, they are adventurers of a new kind, and have traveled to places and domains humanity has never thought even existed.
Fantastic Four No. 96 "The Mad Thinker and His Androids of Death!": Once again trying to gain control of the Baxter Building, the Mad Thinker has created android duplicates of the Fantastic Four who are sent out to attack and capture the other members of the group. While Ben is knocked out at the Baxter Building itself, Johnny and Sue are subdued and replaced by their android counterparts in public.
When Reed is attacked by the android version of himself, he manages to defeat it and pose as it, enabling Reed to get back into the Baxter building and free Ben. The two heroes then bust up the Thinkers androids and capture the Thinker himself. After turning the Thinker over to the police, Reed and Ben locate the sedated Sue and Johnny at the Thinkers hideout and revive them.
