All Hand-Painted by Farmers/Artists
Chinese farmers' paintings, also known as peasants' paintings, enjoy a unique status of is own in the world folk art circles. People often regard the farmers' paintings of Longmen, Guangdong, the farmers' paintings of Huxian of Shaanxi and the farmers' paintings of Jinshan, Shanghai, as the three major types of Chinese farmers' paintings.
We are proud to present you Longmen County Farmers Paintings?. Longmen County is recognized as home to modern Chinese farmer-painters. Chinese farmer or peasant paintings explore all parts of daily life. Festivals, parades, harvest, weddings, village traditions, farm animals, and children are all depicted in their paintings. The style can be described as primitive, with child-like figures and bright colors which are often exaggerated.
Our paintings are instantly recognizable by their bold, exaggerated forms and eccentric use of color. The farmers/artists make full use of the canvas – every inch is vibrantly filled with scenes from daily rural life. In farmer paintings, a normally tedious task is transformed into a celebration of life. And the artists’ liberal use of bright, unnatural colors gives the pictures their distinct, almost child – like quality. Imagination and exaggeration took center stage – in these paintings, subjects such as livestock and harvests tended to be larger than life.
