Though, vintage inspire, this millinery hat block is brand new. It has never been used. It is a very beautiful piece of millinery equipment! I’ve included many photos below here to show its beauty.  Please look at them and if you have any questions, please feel free to email us. You can create?block many different styles of hats with this hat block form mold.

It measures 4-1/2 inches high in the front and 4inches in the back. At its highest point in the middle, it measures 5-1/2 inches high. The block's circumference at the very bottom measures about 23/1/8 inches. Hat size is 7-1/4. Measuring its bottom oval section, the widest part across is 8 inches long and its narrowest part measures 6-1/2 inches wide.

The standard holes at the bottom are 1-1/8, 1/2, and the center one is 1-3/8 inch wide.

These photos are of the actual block up for bid here. Please note the middle photo in the last row below. That photo has a circle to highlight a small insignificant "flatish". It is too small to see and therefore cannot be photograph. A "flatish" is a term we use in our shop to describe a curve that is not as curvy as it should be. This particular flatish will not affect a perfect hat blocking.

Questions & Answers
What does a tipper do? The tipper is used to make a perfect imprint of the top of the block onto the new hat you are blocking (forming, shaping). One of the hardest part of blocking (forming, shaping) a hat is the top of the hat as it has many shapes - valleys, elevations, and curves across the top. Trying to get the top shape of this block onto your new hat with your fingers or any other means does not usually give a professional finish. Using the tipper made only for that specific block will give you that professional look since the tipper (in the case of our product) is an inverted hand-carved duplicate of the top of the block . Basically, what you are doing is sandwiching the hat material between the block and the tipper.

Are these blocks machine made? No, each single hat block is hand carved using hand tools and/or electric hand held power tools.

What kind of wood are these hat blocks made of ? They were carved from Poplar wood.
