The exquisite Panerai watch brand was founded in 1860 by Giovanni Panerai on the Ponte alle Grazie. The Panerai name quickly became so renowned for its precision movement that it became the official watch-maker for the Royal Italian Navy. Always a leader in design, the manufacture’s innovative use of large watch faces led to a broader industry movement that embraced the idea that bigger is often better. The Panerai watch brand is considered such an embodiment of luxury that it recently replaced Girard-Perregaux as the official Ferrari timekeeper. Panerai timepieces remain one of the most difficult to obtain brands in the world, with waiting lists that can span several years.

The FER 0006 Ferrari Granturismo Chronograph features the Panerai OP XII calibre, a movement which is Automatic Mechanical,13¼ lignes and 27 jewels. It has Glucydur® balance, 28,800 alternations/hour; Incabloc® anti-shock device; power reserve; and Côtes de Genève decoration on the bridges. The watch also has oscillating weight engraved with the Prancing Horse. It also has a Chronometer Certificate (C.O.S.C.).
The case is an impressive (and massive) size, measuring 45 mm in diameter, in 18K Rose Gold. The caseback is 18K Rose Gold also and is engraved with the infamous Ferrari Prancing Horse as well, with a geometric pattern decoration. The round edge of the caseback is engraved with the inscription - Engineered by OFFICINE PANERAI.
The featured watch is Panerai Ferrari Granturismo Chronograph dial is black with Clos du Paris, or square grid pattern, the Ferrari logo and Prancing Horse at 12 o’clock, Arabic numerals for the hours, a 60-minute scale, a small continuous seconds dial at 9 o’clock with applied cone-section ring in metal, a seconds hand and part of the seconds scale in red, and a date display window at 3 o’clock with applied cone-shaped ring in metal. The dial has a 24-hour indication on the flange as well and luminous baton hour and minute hands and center second time zone hand with arrow point. The watch is protected by a Sapphire crystal, made from corundum, which is 1.9 mm thick and has anti-reflective coating. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters. It comes on a black alligator strap with contrasting white stitching, lined in red alligator with red stitching. The inside of the strap is also stamped Ferrari and is further personalized with an adjustable Ferrari deployment buckle in brushed steel with the edge of the closure in polished steel. The watch is supplied with a steel screwdriver and a second interchangeable strap in rubber with the Ferrari inscription. An amazing piece!!
Personal Note--This is by far one of the nicest Panerai Ferrari watches I have ever seen, if not the VERY nicest. The case has a gorgeous substantial look and feel, yet it is not too heavy, and the Rose Gold looks as mint as a brand new Ferrari itself, straight off the line. Special, spectacular, and at an unbeatable price!!
