Wooden one-piece 'Bb' Fife

This beautifully crafted wooden 'Bb fife' flute is bored of one piece of lightweight pine, with a woodcut of a fife player printed on it. Bb is the traditional key for fifes.

This fife flute is quieter than the parade fifes. It is well suited for practice and session playing, and comes with directions.

Hold fife sideways to the lips and blow across the mouthpiece to form notes. Simple fingerings produce notes of the diatonic scale (--do-re-mi..) in the key of Bb. Cross-fingerings get notes in between. Notes in the upper register (next scale up) require a bit more practice.

The 'carved contour' mouthpiece (inset photo) makes blowing easier, especially for beginners. If you're already a player, you may feel more like you are breathing a song rather than playing it!
