Film Comment was a excellent magazine that looked at film as a serious art. I hate to cut my throat here but if you are looking for a periodical that is worried about what actress is wearing what or who is the father of some dead goldiggers child or whom is bedding down with whom then this is not your magazine. Film Comment took a serious look at the actors, the directors, the films themselves and many other aspects of film making. Alas, it is no more. But Film Comment was around for several years and if you love to read serious acticles examining film then I highly recommend that you grab any past copies that you can find.
This issue of Film Comment offers articles on the Coen Brothers' Blood Simple, Francis Ford Coppola's Cotton Club and the television series Miami Vice. And there is an interesting article on sleazy movie magazines.
This magazine is in very good shape.
