I bought this book on CD because I love true crime. I knew a little of the story from news and Court TV and thought it would be interesting to know more. Catherine Crier writes a clear rendition of the family, from the bizarre beginnings of the marriage through the murder. She seems quite sympathetic to Susan Polk who was apparently abused by the man who became her husband when he was her therapist and never got a chance to resolve what had happened to her and ended up murdering him. The only criticism that I would have is that I think the book could have been better read by someone else. The are many talented readers for audio books and Catherine reads this one herself and lacks the ability to make the characters come alive in her portrayal.
