Fine Antique Old Violin

The bridge was cut by the famous shop of the late Jacques Francais in New York. The repairs and fittings may also have been performed there as well. The repairs were expertly performed, button repair, wing crack repairs, a small repaired saddle crack and a small repaired right shoulder crack. Good rosewood fittings, excellent bridge and set up with new Dominant Blue strings.

The violin was the property a professional musician who lived and worked in New York City. It was recently obtained at an estate sale. This is a professional violin. Powerful resonant tone with a quick response. It's bright and clear and easy to play. It looks and sounds very much like a good modern Italian violin of the period. The notes are full and rounded and it's pleasure to play.

The violin was expertly crafted, a beautiful scroll, fluted f-holes. The arching is moderate with defined edge work. Very elegant and graceful. And of course the two piece back is remarkable.
