Fine Old German Violin

This violin measures 14 & 1/8th" and is full size. The violin is about 100 years old and the condition is quite good. This is a small repaired separation under tailpiece that extents for 4". It was well repaired and hard to see. The varnish has some scratches, the balance of the condition of this violin looks great. This is a very well made violin. The f-holes are balanced and precisely cut. The front is a season spruce wood with a fine straight grain. The two piece maple back is nicely flamed as are the ribs. The scroll is large and handsome. The purfling was precisely cut and the violin was finely finished. The interior construction is impressive. The rib linings are mitred into the blocks, and the bass bar was properly attached. I have seen many Strad copy from this period and this one is top drawer. The materials and the workmenship is simply topknot.
