Up for bid is a handmade,recently completed cross stitch project.  This pattern was designed from a painting by Eugene de Blaas(1843 - 1931), Eugene de Blaas studied painting under his father, the Austrian history painter Karl de Blaas and also at the Venice and Vienna Academies of Art. He later settled in Venice where he became Professor at the Academy. De Blaas specialized in depicting a wide range of Venetian subjects, portraying Italian people in their native surroundings. He used models from all levels of society. The artist's works were exhibited in London between 1875 and 1892 at the Royal Academy, the Grafton Gallery and the New Gallery, This artwork was painted in 1877 and now private collection.

The design was done on 14 count white aida with measurement of 18"W x22.5 "H.  The design area is 13"Wx 16.5"H.  There is plenty of room for framing.There are 95 colors of DMC flosses used on this project.   this is a large, beautiful and rare design.This was a challenging project to stitch. It took the stitcher about 113 days to finish this great project. Great colors - the picture does not do it justice!!! It would be a nice addtion to your collection, or a great gift.
