16 Rare Earth RING Magnets

Above, one lot of 16 RING magnets, 0.75" diameter with a 0.3" hole and 0.2" thick.

16 BRAND NEW, amazingly strong, 12,300 gauss, RARE EARTH NEODYMIUM magnets. They are all triple plated with nickel/copper/nickel, licensed NdFeB, with beveled edges that help prevent chipping and breakage.

These amazingly strong RING magnets are difficult for many folks to separate if a pair get stuck together.  Spacers are used between the RING magnet poles to make separation easier. The large 3/4" size is quite capable of pinching the skin if a handling mistake occurs.

Float one magnet over another using the same pole repelling force!  

On a chopstick, one 3/4" RING magnet floats 2" over the repelling force of another.

The image above shows about 2" of gap between a pair of these RING magnets pushing away from each other while centered on a wooden chopstick.  The action is much like an invisible spring between the magnets.  When the upper magnet is lifted to the top of a 9" chopstick and then allowed to fall toward the bottom magnet, the upper magnet will initially bounce up about 5 inches over the bottom magnet and then decrease in bounce a couple more times until it comes to rest at the 2" height pictured above.  While on the chopstick, pushing down on the upper magnet can force the gap to be compressed tight against the lower magnet and when released the upper magnet can be propelled with force sufficient to launch it completely off the chopstick!  It is simply fascinating for kids and adults to witness this magnetic effect of strong and invisible repelling forces.  It is truly educational, fun and somewhat magical to explore the new level of magnetism made available by this modern magnetic technology.  Most of us remember our early magnet experiences fondly.  When you first experience rare earth magnets, it may rekindle some of those early experiences of wonder, and more!

These rare earth, neodymium-iron-boron RING magnets are new, and are nickel plated to prevent corrosion.  No seconds or blemished magnets. The thick plating and the beveled edges help to minimize magnets being damaged easily, as is often the case with large NdFeB magnets.  

Neodymium magnets will not loose their magnetism from coming into close proximity to other strong magnets nor from smacking together.  Except for vulnerability to extreme heat, they are quite permanent and will suffer no loss of magnetism in your lifetime.  Heat is like "Kryptonite" to the Neodymium Super Magnets.  Sustained temperatures over 80c will cause these magnets to lose their "super power".

Use caution handling strong magnets. The neodymium magnets are brittle and can chip or break if they are allowed to smack together. The smacking of magnets can be avoided by sliding them apart as well as sliding them back together. These magnets are capable of pinching the skin. You must not get them too close to tapes, wind-up watches, credit cards, floppy discs, etc.; (4" is a safe distance). Neodymium magnets can cause permanent damage to older TVs and other electronic equipment; (15" is a safe distance).
