Norway's Fløibanen Funicular Promoted in Classic Eskesen Floaty Pen

Float pens have been charming collectors for nearly 60 years. Each pen has a photo image that floats back and forth or up and down inside a clear window. There was a time when float pens were commonly found at tourist traps, airports, museums, amusement parks and travel plazas, but they have disappeared from many locations. Thank heaven collectors can rely on the Internet for these little gems.

According to their website... The Fløibanen Funicular in Bergen is one of the most popular attractions in all of Norway. It is easy to find, in the heart of Bergen, only 150 metres from the fish market and Bryggen wharf. The funicular ride up to the top of Fløyen mountain (320 metres above sea level) takes 5-6 minutes. The ride itself is spectacular and the views of Bergen only improve the closer you get to the top. Our web site has a webcam, giving you an idea of the views you can get from the top.

The pen features the red tram traveling up/down on the incline. A quaint village is in the foreground at the base of the pen.

The caption panel, on the backside of the pen, includes: 'FLØIBANEN' 'BERGEN' in red, over a blue panel.

If you are unfamiliar with Eskesen floaty pens... this is a picture of an Eskesen pen in their classic style.

The top portion of the pen is a clear window where the artwork is displayed. Roll the pen over and the 'caption panel' is on the backside. Classic style pens have a metal pocket clip. The tip and body of the pen are usually in matching colors, but not always. Twist the corrugated tip, at the bottom of the pen, to expose/retract the writing point. I do have refills for this style.
